This is an 8* play on the UNDER between the Sacramento Kings and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

While we are primarily a situationally based handicapping service, we don't prescribe to any one single methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. The actual contestants on the field of play rarely enter into our equation when making selections, unless it's a Top 3 player like a LeBron James or Aaron Rodgers etc. One set of criteria which we almost always use when making our decisions, are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest.

This particular play is based on a few different factors:

Classic letdown spot: Sacramento is coming off a 142-119 home win over Phoenix on Saturday (we had the Kings in that one!). The team shot a season-high 60.9 percent from the floor while snapping a three-game slide in the process; suffice it to say, we don't expect the visitors to duplicate that super-human effort again.

Improved defensive play: The Thunder have improved dramatically on the defensive end of the floor after a rocky start to the season, they're coming off a fourth-straight win and just held Charlotte to 34.5 percent shooting and 6 of 22 from behind the arc in their 109-90 win on Saturday. Serge Ibaka and Kevin Durant chipped in with four blocks, the team itself would total 15 blocks in the win.

Recent history: The last time these team's met, the Thunder held on for a 98-95 victory. Steven Adams played a big part in slowing down Kings' big man DeMarcus Cousins in that one, limiting him to just 13 points (note that Sacramento shot a poor 39.8 percent from the field and just 7 of 24 from behind the arc).

Strong and relevant ATS statistics: note that Sacramento has seen the total go UNDER the number in four of five this year after a win by ten points or more and in 11 of 14 after scoring 105 points or more, while OKC has seen the total stay below the posted number in ten of 13 this season after a victory by ten points or more and in nine of ten after playing to three or more consecutive SU victories.

The bottom line: A plethora of different factors all point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
