While we are primarily a situationally based handicapping service, we don't subscribe to any one single methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. The actual contestants on the field of play rarely enter into our equation when making selections, unless it's a Top 3 player like a LeBron James or Aaron Rodgers etc. One set of criteria which we almost always use when making our decisions, are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest.

This particular play is based on a few different factors:

Momentum: The home side comes in with a ton of it, it's won three straight, including a thrilling 68-62 victory over Georgetown in Saturday's regular season non-conference finale.

If history is any precedence: Then the Huskies have to be loving their chances today, they're 12-6 all time vs. Cincinnati dating back to 1994 and in 17 games as conference opponents, UConn owns an 11-6 all time record, which includes a 5-1 mark in front of the home town crowd.

Stats against the visitors: The Bearcats also come in hot, they've won four of their last five, including a 97-75 home win over Tulane on Sunday, but note that this is definitely a spot in which Cincinnati has struggled in for bettors going just 5-7 ATS in its last 12 vs. teams with winning records and only 4-5 ATS in its last nine after scoring 80 points or more.

The bottom line: Once again, these two teams are very evenly matched and once again, we simply can't understate how important we feel that the home court advantage will be once the final whistle sounds. Lay the price on CONNECTICUT on the MONEY-LINE with confidence.
