AAA's TOTAL "ART OF THE GAME!" (MASSIVE SITUATIONAL EDGES!)
(NBA) Minnesota vs. New Orleans,
Total: 217.00 | -110.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is an 8* TOTAL ART OF THE GAME on the UNDER between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans.

We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. The actual contestants on the field of play rarely enter into our equation when making selections, unless it's a Top 3 player like a LeBron James or Aaron Rodgers etc. One set of criteria which we almost always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest.

This particular play is based on a few different factors:

Revenge minded visitors: To say this is a "revenge" game would be a bit of an understatement for the Wolves as they've lost seven straight in the series. Minnesota knows it can score with anyone, but also realizes that it'll have to step up defensively if it has any shot at stealing this one, as it could ill afford to get into a track meet with the deeper Pelicans. Maybe easier said than done though, the Wolves 100 points scored in their 116-102 setback to New Orleans on February 8th marked the first time the team had reached the 100 point plateau in seven games previous (and note that Minnesota was just 2 of 12 from 3-point range in that setback).

ATS statistics: Note that Minnesota has seen the total go UNDER the number in 16 of 20 this year after allowing 105 points or more, while New Orleans has seen the total dip below the posted number in seven of 12 this season off an upset win as an underdog.

The bottom line: New Orleans is just 5.5 games back of the final wild card spot now and this is a team that it needs to beat. We're expecting a more methodically paced affair today and in our professional opinion, all signs do indeed point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
