We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. The actual contestants on the field of play rarely enter into our equation when making selections, unless it's a Top 3 player like a LeBron James or Aaron Rodgers etc. One set of criteria which we almost always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest.

This particular play is based on a few different factors:

The King is back!: Cleveland sat their super-star this week with the playoffs approaching, but LeBron James will be back in the lineup, fully rested and ready to destroy Orlando.

Revenge: Orlando won't be rolling over today, it'll be hungry to perform on the national stage and to avenge 13 straight losses to "The King" in the series. The Cavs have in fact taken six straight in Orlando. The Magic still have a mathematical shot at the postseason as well, but they'll obviously need to string together some wins after dropping five of their last seven. A little home cooking could help Orlando as it's won three of is last four on its own court.

Poor defensvie play: The Magic have been playing horribly on the defensive end, so it's no surprise that they're struggling right now; note that Orlando has averaged 100.1 points, while allowing 109.4 off 46.9 percent shooting over its last seven games.

Over/Under ATS statistics: Note that Cleveland has seen the total go OVER the number in 18 of 32 this year vs. teams with losing records, while Orlando has seen the total go OVER the number in ten of its last 17 vs. teams with winning records.

The bottom line: Cleveland welcomes back James and with the Magic looking to spoil "The Kings" return, all signs point to a more wide open affair rather than a lot of half court sets while on offense. Play on the OVER.
