(NCAAF) Oregon State vs. Minnesota,
Total: 56.00 | -110.00 Over
Result: Win
This is an 8* TOP TOTAL on the UNDER between Oregon State and Minnesota.

Setting the scene: Oregon State struggled last year, finishing among the conference cellar dwellers in most offensive and defensive categories and was unable to secure even a single league victory. The Beavers are once again expected to be in over their heads this season. Minnesota is guided by veteran QB Mitch Leidner, who will be leaning upon a deep stable of competent backs this year.

Oregon State: The Beavers ranked last in the Pac 12 in passing offense with just 159.1 YPG last season. They were also ranked last in scoring offense with 19.0 PPG. That does not bode well for a team that's still rebuilding and looking for an identity and having to face the Golden Gophers 11th ranked passing defense from a year ago. QB Darell Garretson is a transfer from Utah State who threw for 2,586 yards and 18 touchdowns and ten interceptions while playing in 13 games for the Aggies.

Minnesota: The team was dominant on the defensive end last year and will be once again this season. Keep your eyes on LB's Cody Poock and Jack Lynn. Leidner will provide a spark to the passing game, but the Golden Gophers will once again focus on the ground while on offense, as freshman backs Shannon Brooks and Rodney Smith return after combining for 1,379 total rushing yards in 2015. Overall though Minnesota got the job done defensively last year, as the offense was ranked 13th in the Big Ten in scoring (22.5 PPG).

The bottom line: Oregon State has nothing in place right now that points to anything changing from a year ago and with Minnesota looking to pound the ball throughout, while also leaning heavily on its nation leading defense, all signs point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
