REASONING: Purdue comes in rattled here after getting outscored 45-7 in the second half in last week's setback to Penn State. Minnesota comes in off a confidence building 40-17 rout of Illinois. But the Golden Gophers also come into this one complacent after becoming bowl eligibile with their sixth win of the season last week. For the most part we base our Over/Under selections on "situations," combined with strong and relevant O/U ATS statistics. We think this one sets up perfectly for a lower-scoring UNDER. Purdue QB David Blough has 2,346 passying yards with 16 TD's and 12 picks. The Boilermakers though will be looking to atone defensively after the atrocious second half performance last week. Minnesota looked especially good on the defensive side of the ball last week, recovering three fumbles and only allowing Illinois a total of 245 yards of total offense. The Golden Gophers though did not look good offensively, totaling only 283 yards. RB Rodney Smith was a bright spot with 100 yards on 20 carries. Note that Purdue has seen the total go UNDER the number in three of its last four road games where there total is between 56.5 and 63 points, while Minnesota has seen the total go UNDER the number in five of its last eight after two or more consecutive SU victories.
