We don't think these starting pitchers are getting nearly enough repsect from the oddsmakers as far as the total is concerned in this matchup:
David Holmberg: He's 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. Holmberg most recently gave up one run off four hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Thursday. Note that he's been particularly effective on the road, 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA.
Jose Berrios: He's 6-1 with a 2.74 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. Berrios most recently went eight innings in a victory over Seattle on Thursday, allowing two runs off five hits and a walk while striking out six. Berrios has posted a spectacular 45:14 K:BB in seven starts since being recalled from Triple-A.
The bottom line: The White Sox are horrible against right-handed pitching this year, ranked 27th in terms of wRC+ in the league. We like these two competent starters to battle deep and we look for this one to sneak UNDER this sky-high number once it's all said and done.
