Money Line: -145.00 NY Mets (Home)
Result: Loss
Play: New York Mets
Rating: 8*
The red hot New York Mets have won five straight games and rallied from a six-run deficit to take down the Miami Marlins last night. I like the Mets to build on that success and pick up another win against the Fish Tuesday night.
Steven Matz (7-3, 3.40) takes the ball for New York. He's not been at his best lately, but the left-hander is a solid 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA in seven starts home at Citi Field. Matz was destroyed for seven runs in 1 2/3 frames by the Marlins in his season debut, so he'll be looking to set the record straight with a much better performance tonight.
Wei-Yin Chen (4-3, 5.11 ERA) takes the ball for Miami. He was tagged for four runs and eight hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the lowly Braves at Atlanta his last time out. I'm counting on Chen to struggle to slow down a Mets offense that has produced 40 runs during their winning streak as he makes his first career start against New York.
Marlins are 2-6 in their last eight road games. Mets are 9-0 in their last nine home games vs. a team with a winning record. Mets are 4-0 in their last four home games vs. a left-handed starter.
