(MLB) NY Yankees vs. Cleveland,
Money Line: -126.00 Cleveland (Home)
Result: Loss
Money Line: -126.00 Cleveland (Home)
Result: Loss
Play: Cleveland Indians
Rating: 8*
Cleveland has dropped two of three against the Yankees, but I like the Tribe to salvage a split of the four-game set heading into the All Star break on Sunday afternoon.
Carlos Carrasco (5-2, 2.47 ERA) takes the ball for Cleveland. He's held five straight opponents to two runs or fewer and he's 3-0 while allowing just two runs on 11 hits through 22 1/3 innings of work in his last three starts. Carrasco has posted an 0.95 ERA in three day starts this year and has current Bronx Bombers limited to a .200 batting average with 22 Ks over 85 at bats.
Masahiro Tanaka (6-2, 3.12 ERA) takes the ball for the Yankees. He's coming off 7 2/3 scoreless innings at Chicago White Sox but had been tagged with nine runs through 12 innings in his previous two starts. Current members of the Tribe are batting a combined .350 over 60 at bats against the right-hander.
Cleveland fell 7-6 on Saturday, but it's 8-3 SU as a home favorite coming off a home loss as a favorite. We can also note that it's 8-2 in its last 10 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and I think the Indians will get to Tanaka early, which will spell big trouble for New York. "We had to use our 'pen hard today, but we've got time off coming (during the All-Star break), so I was willing to do it," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after Saturday's win.
