Result: Loss
Play: Milwaukee Brewers
Rating: 8*
The St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers enter Sunday's series finale of this three-game set tied at 1-1 after an 8-1 Cardinals win on Saturday. Runs should be harder to come by for the Cards on Sunday though coming up against Junior Guerra on the mound.
Guerra (6-1, 2.93) has been brilliant home at Miller Park all season, sitting on a 4-1 mark with a 2.48 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while limiting the opposition to a .206 batting average. The rookie is 3-0 in his last three outings and has not allowed a run in 15 1/3 innings over his last two starts.
The Cardinals turn to Mike Leake (5-7, 4.33 ERA). The Cards have lost each of his last four starts and he was tagged with five runs for the second time in that stretch in a 5-2 setback to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. He's 3-4 with a 4.58 ERA in 12 career starts against the Brew Crew and 3-2 with a 4.81 mark in eight starts at Miller Park. The current Milwaukee roster is batting .343 over 108 at bats against Leake.
St. Louis is 12-0-1 in its last 13 series with its National League Central rival, but I like Milwaukee to claim this series Sunday afternoon.
