Play: New York Yankees
Rating: 8*
The Boston Red Sox closed out the first half of the schedule with four consecutive wins and they opened the second half with a 5-3 win against AL East rival the New York Yankees on Friday. I like the Bronx Bombers to bounce back with a win Saturday afternoon.
The Yankees are 4-0 in their last four games following a loss and turn to CC Sabathia (5-6, 3.77 ERA) for today's contest. The veteran southpaw has struggled lately, but the Red Sox is a ball club he's has under control in recent seasons. Sabathia was 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA in three starts against Boston last year and he has its current members limited to a .219 batting average with 59 strikeouts over 233 at bats.
The Red Sox turn to Eduardo Rodriguez (1-3, 8.59 ERA) as the 23 year old makes his seventh start of the year. Rodriguez was knocked around for nine runs on 11 hits in just 2 2/3 innings of a 13-7 loss at Tampa Bay his last time out and current Bronx Bombers are batting a combined .307 over 75 at bats against the left-hander. Both Jacoby Ellsbury and Alex Rodriguez are 5-for-11 off him.
Red Sox are 2-8 in their last 10 games vs. a left-handed starter. Yankees are 4-0 in Sabathia's last four starts vs. Red Sox.
