Play: Arizona Diamondbacks
Rating: 8*
The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost four of six and three straight since the All Star break. They fell 6-2 in the opener of a three-game set at Great American Ballpark last night, but they still boast a winning record on the road this year and I like the Snakes to bounce back with a win on Saturday.
Left-hander Robbie Ray (5-8, 4.49 ERA) takes the ball for Arizona. The 24 year old tossed seven scoreless innings of four-hit ball against the Dodgers his last time out. He's recorded seven strikeouts or more in six consecutive starts and boasts 122 strikeouts over 104 1/3 innings over the course of the season. Ray has compiled a respectable 3.70 ERA in nine road starts and the Diamondbacks are 5-1 in the last six visits to Great American Ballpark.
The Reds turn to Keyvius Sampson (0-1, 5.51) who'll make his first start of the season. He made 12 starts in 13 appearances last season with the Reds, going 2-6 with a 6.54 ERA overall. Arizona has been playing some decent ball on the road this year and its .266 batting average on the road is the fifth best among all teams in the Major Leagues.
The Reds are 15-36 in their last 51 games vs. a left-handed starter and their .306 on base percentage against southpaws on the season is the fourth worst mark in baseball. Diamondbacks are 11-5 in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
