The Washington Nationals are returning home from an extended road trip which included splitting four games at San Francisco last week. They're 4-0 in their last four following a seven day road trip or more, and this looks like a good spot to back the Nats as they host the Giants Friday night.

The Giants are 2-9 in their last 11 on the road and hand the ball to the struggling Jeff Samardzija (9-7, 4.30 ERA) for tonight's contest. The Shark was tagged with four runs on seven hits through six innings of a 4-1 home loss to the Nats last week. He's been reached for four runs or more in six of his last seven starts.

The Nats turn to Gio Gonzalez (6-9, 4.29) who's been solid lately. He held the Giants to one run in six innings his last time out and he's recorded quality starts in four of his last five outings. Hunter Pence is just 1-for-17 in the matchup.
