Two of the highest scoring teams in the NHL will face off tonight as the Toronto Maple Leafs are in Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins. These two teams have plenty of firepower, so goals could come fast and furious.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Prolific Offenses - No other team in the NHL has a better goal per game average than the Pens this season as they've found the net 72 times over 20 games. A big reason is their efficiency on the power play, they went 1-for-3 on the man advantage against Boston on Monday which also is their average for the season. The Maple Leafs have found the net regularly this season as well, currently holding down the third spot with a 3.19 goal per game average. They do concede a fair amount of goals though, giving up just shy of three goals per game.
2. Trends - Eight of the last 10 meetings at CONSOL Energy Center have gone over the total. Furthermore, seven of the Maple Leafs last nine overall have gone over as well with their last three games containing a total of 23 goals.
3. X-Factor - Pittsburgh's Evegni Malkin scored twice in Monday's 3-2 win against Boston, his second the game winning goal 32 seconds into OT.
Selection: This is a play on TOR@PIT to go over the total (5*).
