The Montreal Canadiens snapped a three game losing streak Monday as they defeated the Avs 4-3 in Colorado. That was the start of a four game road trip that takes them to Minnesota to face a Wild team that has been dominant at home all season long. It's hard to pick a winner here, and I expect a close low-scoring game between two defensively sound teams.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Special Teams - Two of the worst power play units in the NHL will match-up here. Only the Sabres have a worse success rate than the Wild's 9.6% and the Canadiens are not much better converting on less than 15% of their chances. Both teams have top rated penalty killing units, with the Wild sitting second in the table killing off close to 89% of their penalties.
2. Trends - Only one of the Canadiens last six on the road have gone over the total, and the same is true for one of the Wild's last six overall.
3. X-Factor - No other team in the league allows less shots on goal per game than the Wild.
Selection: This is a play on MTL@MIN to go under the total (10*)
