The Dallas Stars just haven't lived up to lofty expectations this season. Every time you think they've turned a corner stringing a couple of wins together they stumble again and are currently on a three game losing skid. A win won't come easy tonight in Detroit either as the Red hot Wings are looking to bounce back from a 4-3 loss against Florida after four straight wins prior.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. The Stars D - Kari Lehtonen has been a huge disappointment this season showing a 3.13 GAA over his 21 games. Back-up Anders Lindback has been even worse, losing all his five games behind a 4.64 GAA. In all fairness, they've not had much help with the Stars ranking near the bottom of the league allowing close to 33 shots on goal per game. They've conceded five goals in each of their last three losses and are likely to struggle tonight against a Detroit offense that has scored 19 goals over its last four wins.
2. The Red Wings Power Play - Detroit has scored at least one goal on the man advantage over its last five games, finding the net in eight of 21 opportunities. They can most likely look forward to plenty of chances on the man advantage tonight as well, with the Stars giving up 14 penalties over their last two games, conceding a goal on three of those.
3. X-Factor - The Red Wings veteran Henrik Zetterberg is on a five game point streak, registering five assists over his last three games.
