The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Jacksonville Jaguars in a battle of the NFL's bottom feeders this week. The Jaguars have been the most futile franchise in the league over the last decade, but the Bucs are well on their way to challenging football's futility records. If you've watched Tampa play this season, it should be hard to comprehend the fact that they are favorite here today. I'll take Jacksonville plus the points.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Quarterbacks - Jameis Winston has been a bust so far, throwing for more picks (7) than touchdowns (6). He was picked off four times in a loss to Carolina last week, and his problems protecting the football date back to his college career at Florida State. The Jags have to be encouraged by the development of Blake Bortles, who threw for 298 yards and a TD in an overtime loss at Indianapolis last week. Bortles has twice as many TDs (6) as he does INTs (3).
2. Previous History - The Jaguars have owned this series, winning and covering in all three meetings since 2003. They are also 4-0 ATS in their last four versus teams with a sub .500 record.
3. X-Factor - The Bucs released kicker Kyle Brindza after he missed a pair of FGs last week.
