Result: Loss
The Anaheim Ducks lost their season-opener 2-0 to Pacific Division rivals the San Jose Sharks in the Shark Tank. It was a lackluster performance from a Ducks team that were outshot 44-27, but I expect them to make amends in front of the home-town crowd tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Previous Meetings - The Ducks won three of five meetings last season and gained points in four. They're 9-2 over the last 11 encounters overall and Vancouver has managed just one win in the last five visits to the Duck Pond.
2. Ryan Miller vs. Ducks - The Canucks' goaltender opened the season with 29 saves and one goal allowed at Calgary but gave up three goals on 38 shots in the second game of a home-and-home series. He has posted a 4.12 GAA while going 0-2-1 in his last three starts against the Ducks and is likely to see some extremely fired up Ducks here.
3. X-Factor - Anaheim's star netminder Fredrik Andersen is 6-1-1 with a 1.22 GAA lifetime against Vancouver.
Selection: This is a play on the Anaheim Ducks (7*)
