ROGERS' 10* GAME OF THE WEEK (INSANE 97-62 +$16K w/ 10* MLB YTD!)
(MLB) Philadelphia vs. Washington,
Money Line: -185.00 Washington (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -185.00 Washington (Home)
Result: Win
The set-up: I don't normally recommend playing a side with a price of this size as one of my top rated 10* selections, unless I unequivocally feel that the situation calls for it. And that's definitely the case here. The Phillies hand the ball to Zach Eflin, while the home side counters with Patrick Corbin.
The pitchers: Eflin (9-12, 4.00 ERA) has been much better of late and he's 3-2 with a 3.41 ERA lifetime vs. the Nationals, but I simply feel that he's in the wrong place at the wrong time here.
Corbin (13-7, 3.10) has won three of his past four outings, most recently allowing two runs over six innings while striking out 11 in a victory over St. Louis. In eight career starts vs. Philly he's 4-2 with a 3.38 ERA.
The pick: This is a huge series for both teams, with Wild card positioning on the line. The Nationals play eight games in seven days which will decide whether they're hosting the NL Wildcard, or travelling to it. One game at a time obviously. The Phillies are six games out with eight games remaining and come to town off a humbling 10-1 loss in Cleveland just last night. I'm laying the price with confidence.
