The Minnesota Wild lost 4-1 at home to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and followed that up with another loss at Ottawa two nights later. The Canadiens snapped a three game losing streak on Wednesday as they defeated the Sabres in a shootout, and I think that momentum will carry them to another win tonight.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Special Teams - The Wild have the second worst power play in the league, and the Canadiens are sitting only one spot ahead of them. Both teams have a solid penalty kill, but I believe the Canadiens have a better chance at improving their PP stats in this game as four of the Wild's goals allowed with a man down this season have come in their last five games.
2. Trends - The Wild have dropped four of their last five on the road and have only won two of the last seven meetings overall. The Canadiens have won five of their last seven at home.
3. X-factor - Max Pacioretty has five goals for the Canadiens this season. He might like his chances of getting on the scoresheet once again tonight, as he has four goals and one assists over two games against the Wild in his career.
Selection: This is a play on the Montreal Canadiens (8*)
