This has been a competitive series and we think the underdog Cards offer great value on the National stage Sunday night:
Michael Wacha: He's 7-3 with a 3.71 ERA. Wacha most recently went nine innings against the Mets on Tuesday, striking out eight while scattering three hits and a walk in the eventual 5-0 victory. Wacha has now won four straight and has given up just three runs while posting a 31:5 K:BB ratio spanning 26.2 innings of work.
Jose Quintana: He's 5-8 with a 4.20 ERA. Quintana went seven scoreless against the Orioles on Sunday, also posting 12 K's. Quintana has looked much better of late, but if he had one clear weakness while in Chicago, it was his play at home where he was just 1-4 with a 5.11 ERA.
The bottom line: Now Quintana heads to Wrigley for his first home game. We think the veteran will have a predictable letdown here though and we look for Wacha to continue his progression. As mentioned off the top, great value on the undervalued dog. Play on the CARDINALS.
