This is an 8* SITUATIONAL DESTRUCTION on the San Jose Sharks.
We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.
This particular play is based primarily on strong/relevant ATS stats and common sense:
As note that Boston is just 1-3 in its last four after holding its opponent to one goal or less in its previous contest (beat LA 2-1 last time out), while San Jose is 4-1 in its last five after getting shutout in its previous contest (lost 2-0 at home to Florida in its latest action.)
The bottom line: San Jose had won six of seven before its latest "dud," but it remains 6-5 so far in front of the home town crowd. Boston is 5-3-2-0 at home, but only 2-4-1-1 on the road. With three whole nights off before a game at New Jersey, this also sets up as a letdown/lookahead spot for the visitors as well. Lay the price, play on the SHARKS.
