Result: Loss
There's a lot to like about the Cardinals in this spot, worth laying the road price.

Adam Wainwright has the lowest road ERA of any pitcher in baseball at 1.74. Wainwright is extremely tough in day games as evidenced by a 7-2 record and 2.57 ERA. He also has dominated the Pirates going 4-1 with a 0.80 ERA during his last six starts against Pittsburgh.

St. Louis has won six of Wainwright's past seven starts against the Pirates and are 4-0 the past four times following a loss.

The Pirates are 4-9 in their last 13 games. They are 2-7 the past nine times they've been underdogs. Pittsburgh is likely to be missing Pedro Alvarez and Andrew McCutcheon. Alvarez was wearing a walking boot last night on his left foot after leaving Tuesday's game with a sprain. McCutcheon also left last night's game after aggravating his rib fracture that had put him on the DL. The early start time doesn't bode well for McCutcheon being in the lineup.

Pirates starter Jeff Locke is a bottom of the rotation type starter, who has a 3.78 ERA in eight starts at home this year.
