We saw a slugfest in the Motor City on Saturday, and I expect to see plenty of scoring here in Game 3 in Detroit.
Justin Verlander will toe the slab for the Tigers, and he was sharp in a win over Miami on Opening Day. He was far better on the road than he was at home last season, and he's been hit pretty hard in recent meetings with the Yankees. He only faced them once last year, but he surrendered six runs on 10 hits, including three home runs over 6 2/3 innings.
The Yankees hand the ball to Masahiro Tanaka, who was pretty average in his season debut. He struggled against the Tigers last year, going 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA in two starts. In 11 1/3 innings he surrendered three home runs, and 13 hits.
J.D. Martinez has owned him, going 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs.
