The Jays went into Baltimore this weekend as winners of seven of eight, but lost two of three to the Orioles. They now sit 2.5 games back of 1st place Baltimore in the AL East. Arizona is in town Wednesday, coming off a four game series sweep in Philly. The step up in competition is likely going to prove to be too tough for the D'Backs.
Marco Estrada will toe the slab for the Jays, and he's having a stellar season so far. Estrada (5-2, 2.58 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on four hits, striking out five in 6 2/3 innings in a 7-2 win at Philadelphia his last time out. He's an impressive 2-1 with a 1.77 ERA in six starts at home.
The D'Backs hand the ball to Patrick Corbin, who is coming off back to back losses. Corbin (3-6, 4.76 ERA) allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings in a 3-2 loss to the Dodgers his last time out. He's fortunate to have escaped without more damage, but if he puts 10 men on base in six inning in Toronto, he isn't likely going to be so lucky.
The Diamondbacks are 0-6 in their last 6 interleague games versus a right-handed starter, while the Jays have won six straight when Estrada starts.
