Both the Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide won big in their New Years Eve Playoff bowl games, but Alabama's defense looked particularly impressive in a shutout win over the Spartans. It looks like Alabama is in a class of it's own, and Clemson's likely to struggle to put points on the board.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Alabama Pass Rush - The Crimson Tide lead the nation with 50 sacks, and they limited Connor Cook to just 210 yards and two INTs on 19-of-39 passing in a 38-0 win in the Cotton Bowl.
2. Jake Coker - Alabama's perceived weakness was at the quarterback position. After Jake Coker threw for 286 yards and two TDs on 25-of-30 passing in the Cotton Bowl, the Tigers will have to think twice about stacking up the line of scrimmage to stop the run. Coker has thrown seven TD passes and no picks in his last four starts.
3. X-Factor - The Crimson Tide are 7-1 ATS in their last seven versus teams with a winning record.
