Thursday Night Preseason Game of the Year

The Jags are approaching this more seriously than many teams to their third preseason game. Chad Henne will play the entire first half at QB. Blake Bortles comes in next. There is a good chance quarterbacks Ricky Stanzi and rookie Stephen Morris won't play.

Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart returned to practice and is going to play. He is the lead dog of the Jags running back by committee. Through the first week of the preseason, the Jaguars defense looks better at the top and has enough depth to cut guys that would have contributed last season.

Backup QBs Jordan Palmer has struggled for Bears. Jimmy Clausen has been elevated to the backup. He has not taken a regular season snap since 2010. Of course their starting QB Jay Cutler is not only among the most overrated in NFL history, but also regular season does not mean a lot to him. All indications are that Jacksonville is all-in and will play their first two units a ton of time.
