Mississippi State is coming into this game with a 2-1 record this season but they have not been great in their 3 games. They opened their season with an FCS team that they smashed 48-7 but they have struggled a lot more in their last 2 games. They beat Arizona at home but needed OT to win that game when Arizona does not have a great team and then they followed that up with a home loss in their conference game of the year as they lost to LSU 41-14. Now they have another conference game here but they are also playing their 1st road game of the season as they played their last 3 at home. They are going up against a South Carolina team that is 1-2 this season but they have played much better in their games and have had a tougher schedule as well. They opened their season with a loss against a good UNC team on a neutral site but followed up with a big win at home over an FCS team. Then they played very well in their last game which they lost on the road but they lost to Georgia who is the number 1 team in the country right now and they put up a very good fight in that game, losing 24-14 and even had a 14-3 lead at halftime. Now they are playing another conference game and this will be their 1st home game of the season against another FBS opponent. South Carolina is going to be upset over that close loss against Georgia in a game they could have won and it is only going to give them confidence in this home game against a much worse Mississippi State team.
