GAMECOCKS-SOONERS OVER 40.5
(NCAAF) Gamecocks (SC) vs. Sooners (OKL),
Total: 40.50 | -109.00 Over
Result: Win
Why I'm betting the over:

South Carolina proved it can move the football through the air last week, as QB LaNorris Sellers was 23-for-31 passing for 238 yards and two touchdowns vs. Alabama. There were a few big throws in that game, which isn't surprising considering the Gamecocks are 19th nationally in explosive passing. The Sooners rank 77th in passing yards allowed and 83rd in EPA/Pass Allowed. The SC ground game has also been effective with Raheim Sanders (81 carries for 393 yards (4.9 YPC) and 23 missed tackles) and Sellers (219 yards and three TDs with a long run of 75 yards).

The Oklahoma offense may struggle in the passing game if top WR Deion Burks can't play, as the Gamecocks are tough to throw against (8th in EPA/Pass Allowed). That said, they are vulnerable on the ground, ranking 83rd in EPA/Rush Allowed and 100th in Stuff Rate. The Sooners have a dual-threat quarterback in Michael Hawkins Jr. (76 rush yards vs. Tennessee), so they should find success in that department.

Both teams prefer a faster pace of play, as OU averages 24.7 seconds per play (36th) and USC averages 25.8 seconds per play (51st), as well. With all that said, the total seems too low at 40.5, so I recommend wagering accordingly.
