ASA TOP PLAY 10* ON Tampa Bay Rays Money Line (+) vs Los Angeles Dodgers, Tuesday at 8:08 PM ET
Clayton Kershaw was not at his best but still showed strong form Sunday for the Dodgers while Tyler Glasnow struggled once again for the Rays. The result was that it led to a 4-2 loss for the Rays. We're coming right back with Tampa Bay here. As we noted in our Game 2 write-up (winner on the Rays) the first game of this series was the 3rd time this post-season that the Dodgers had won a game by a margin of 5 or more runs. What has now happened after those first three? Los Angeles got trounced in their very next games by a combined score of 21 to 7. Now we are well aware that Game 5 was not a huge win for the Dodgers as that one came by a margin of just 2 runs (rather than 5+) but the point is that LA has a history of struggles off big wins in this post-season. That said, Sunday's win certainly fits the bill as a big win as that sets up the potential for the Dodgers to win the World Series in Game 6 tonight. However, we don't see that happening. Not only have these teams alternated wins and losses throughout this series, the Rays have won 8 straight games when coming off a loss by 2+ runs. Sunday was only the 6th time in this post-season that the Rays have lost a game by more than a 1-run margin. What happened after the first five? Tampa Bay won every single time with a combined score of 27-19 in those 5 victories. The Dodgers are expected to go with a "bullpen game" here while the Rays are expected to start Blake Snell. The Tampa Bay lefty can't wait to take the mound as he didn't go as deep as he wanted in his last start. As a result, Snell is fired up and will be sharp here and determined to work deeper into the game after striking out 9 in 4 and 2 / 3 innings in Game 2 of this series which was a TB win! He has a low ERA in each of his seasons in the playoffs - last year and this year - and should cruise here. That means the Rays should not need to score a lot but we do expect them to get plenty here against expected starter Tony Gonsolin (9.39 post-season ERA) and the Dodgers bullpen. Per our computer math model this series gets evened up tonight as Snell dominates and the TB bats come back to life after scoring just 2 runs Sunday. The Rays have the better starting pitcher here and the better bullpen and continue to offer great value at an underdog price. Bet the Tampa Bay Rays on the money line in evening action Tuesday.
