Stephen Nover's September Total of the Month
(MLB) Chi Cubs vs. Toronto,
Total: 8.00 | 101.00 Under
Result: Win
Kyle Hendricks has been a most impressive rookie judging by his numbers, which show a 6-1 mark and 2.02 ERA. The Cubs have won nine of his 10 starts.

Hendricks is a decent prospect. But he's not nearly as talented as his numbers indicate. A strong correction is in order and I say that correction happens here against one of the most powerful teams in baseball at an AL ballpark where the DH is in use.

Looking at Hendricks' last start, which was against the slumping Brewers this past Wednesday, you'll see he won 6-2 giving up two runs in 5 2/3 innings. On closer examination, though, you'll also see Hendricks did not strike out any of the 25 batters he faced - and this was against the free-swinging Brewers who treat a walk like a disease. He gave up nine hits and is on the verge of hitting the wall having thrown 165 1/3 innings during the season in the minors and with the Cubs.

The Blue Jays have hit the third-most homers in baseball. They rank fifth in runs. Toronto has scored seven or more runs in five of its last eight games. Jose Bautista is red-hot batting .333 with eight homers and 19 RBIs in his last 13 games.

The Cubs have hit the fifth-most homers in baseball and are facing Drew Hutchison. Despite going 2-0 in his last three home starts, Hutchison still has a 5.19 home ERA and a losing record at Rogers Centre. The over has cashed in seven of his last eight starts versus teams with a losing record.

Hunter Wendelstedt is slated to be behind the plate. He has a slight bias to under, but is not extreme enough to alter this game going above the total.
