This is a 10* NON-CONFERENCE TOTAL OF THE WEEK on the UNDER between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

We don't subscribe to any single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account numerous different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. One set of criteria which we always use when making our decisions are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics.

This particular play is based on a few different factors:

As note that Chicago has seen the total go UNDER the number in seven of 11 this year after allowing four goals or more, while Tampa has seen the total go UNDER in 13 of 20 following a divisional contest.

The bottom line: Chicago will be out to atone for a 7-0 loss at Florida. Despite the setback, the Hawks have won six of their last eight. Tampa comes in off a 2-1 road win over Detroit in OT and it's now won six of its last nine. Note that the UNDER is 6-1 the last seven in this series. Hawks' netminder Corey Crawford owns a lifetime 1.95 GAA against Tampa, while Lightning goalie Andrei Vsileskly is 1-0 with a 2.00 GAA lifetime against Chicago. Tampa will look to control the tempo and to slow down the speedy Hawks tonight. When you add it all up, this one definitely has all the makings of a lower-scoring goaltenders battle. Play the UNDER.
