Play: Arizona Diamondbacks
Rating: 10*
The Arizona Diamondbacks had a five-game winning streak come to an end a they fell 5-2 to the Blue Jays on Wednesday. I like the D'Backs to bounce back with a win tonight in the opener of a three-game set against division rival Colorado Rockies.
Zack Greinke (10-3, 3.54 ERA) takes the ball for Arizona. He's 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA in two 2016 starts against the Rockies, but both outings were home at Chase Field. The D'Backs ace is an outstanding s 5-0 with a 1.47 ERA in six road starts on the season and enters this game on a seven-start winning streak overall, and he's 8-1 with a 2.39 ERA over his last nine starts.
The Rockies turn to Eddie Butler (2-4, 6.26). The team has lost each of his last six outings and he was knocked around for six runs on nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings of a 9-6 loss at Miami on June 18 his last time out. Butler is taking the turn of the injured Tyler Chatwood and will be making his eighth start of the season, first since, June 7, and he as a 5.97 ERA as a starting pitcher this season.
Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt is batting .342 so far this month and reached base four times on two hits and two walks yesterday. I expect Goldschmidt and the rest of the D'Backs to chase Butler of the mound early which would give them a shot at the Rockies atrocious bullpen that was asked to cover a lot of innings yesterday as well.
