Play: Washington Nationals
Rating: 8*
The Washington Nationals sit top of the NL East, but they're in a major slump dropping seven consecutive games. I like the price we get on the Nats to turn it around against the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday afternoon.
Gio Gonzalez (3-6, 4.25 ERA) takes the ball for Washington. The Nats have lost each of his last six starts, but he's 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA in five career starts against Milwaukee. This is a spot where I'm comfortable backing a slumping pitcher to get back on track.
The Brew Crew turn to Matt Garza (0-0, 0.90). He'll make his third start of the season and has looked sharp in his first two. He's 0-4 with a gaudy 7.17 ERA in eight career mettings with the Nats though and has struggled with both Bryce Harper (3-for-6) and Wilson Ramos (5-for-13).
Nationals are 11-4 in their last 15 games vs. a right-handed starter and 4-1 in Gonzalez's last five starts vs. Brewers.
