Money Line: 125.00 Cleveland (Away)
Result: Win
Money Line: 125.00 Cleveland (Away)
Result: Win
Play: Cleveland Indians
Rating: 10*
The Cleveland Indians are dominating the Detroit Tigers this season. Yesterday's 6-0 victory marked their eighth consecutive win against their AL Central rival, and I expect their success to continue on Sunday when Josh Tomlin will toss opposite Justin Verlander.
Tomlin (8-1, 3.32 ERA) bested Verlander in a 7-3 win on May 3 when he held the Tigers to a pair of runs through six innings of work. He's won both starts against Detroit this season behind a 2.13 ERA and he's thrived on the road all year with a 4-0 record behind a 2.63 ERA in six road starts.
Verlander (7-5, 3.78) is enjoying a great season overall, but the Tribe have already got the best of him twice with the veteran allowing a total of nine runs through 12 frames. He'll have to be careful with Yan Gomes who is hitting .300 with two home runs and eight RBIs in eight games versus the Tigers this season and he's 9-for-29 with three doubles off Verlander lifetime.
Indians are 9-1 in Tomlin's last 10 road starts, Indians are 12-1 in Tomlin's last 13 starts when their opponent allows five runs or more in their previous game, Indians are 6-1 in Tomlin's last seven starts after allowing two runs or fewer in their previous game.
