Result: Loss
The set-up: It's a pair of teams from the Pacific division squaring off here. San Jose smashed the Ducks in four straight games in the playoffs last year and I think it'll find a way to get the job done here on Opening Night as well.
The teams: Anaheim turns to John Gibson in net and he was 31-18-7 with a 2.43 GAA las tear. Note though that offensive star Corey Perry is expected to be sidelined for another five or six months with injury. The team was plagued with injury last year as well.
San Jose sends Martin Jones into the net and he's 30-22-6 with a 2.55 GAA last year. He owns a tiny 1.85 GAA lifetime against Anaheim. The offense averaged 3.01 goals last year. The Sharks were stacked with talent last season, but the addition of Erik Karlsson to anchor the defense makes this team a Stanley Cup contender.
The pick: Take it for what you will as well, but San Jose is 13-6 in its last 19 home games, while Anaheim is just 3-7 in its last ten on the road. Lay the price.
