Stephen Nover's Wednesday Wipeout
(MLB) Detroit vs. NY Yankees, 08/06/2014 3:05 PM, Score: 1 - 5
Total: 9.00 | -117.00 Under
Result: Loss
After facing Max Scherzer and David Price the past two days, the Yankees actually step down in class drawing Justin Verlander, who is past his prime.

Verlander is 0-2 with a 4.78 ERA pitching at the new Yankee Stadium giving up seven homers there in 31 innings. The over has cashed the last five times Verlander has pitched against the Yankees on the road.

The Yankees, though, can only counter with Chris Capuano, a five-inning type of pitcher also past his prime. The Yankees only brought Capuano in because their starting pitching rotation has been decimated by injuries. The 35-year-old Capuano already has been with six organizations during the past four years. He has a 6.00 career ERA in two previous starts against the Tigers.

The Tigers rank in the top three in a number of major offensive categories, including runs, batting average and OPS.

First-year umpire Tom Woodring is slated to be behind the plate. The over has cashed 69 percent of the time in his 13 games behind the plate this season. Weather shouldn't factor as there is just a slight cross wind.
