Chicago is still in the cellar in the AL Central, but the Sox have won four straight at home, and four in a row overall. They will be looking to complete the sweep in the series finale at home versus Baltimore this afternoon, and I like their chances of doing just that.
Carlos Rodon will toe the slab for the Sox, and he's having an impressive rookie campaign. Rodon (3-1, 4.07 ERA) allowed four runs on eight hits, striking out seven over five innings in an 8-7 win at Detroit his last time out. He's been far better at home than he has been on the road, going 3-0 with a 2.39 ERA in five appearances in Chicago. He's also 2-0 with a 3.43 ERA in three starts in afternoon games.
The Orioles hand the ball to Miguel Gonzalez, who is coming off a very poor performance at home in his last start. Gonzalez (6-5, 4.04 ERA) was torched for six runs on eight hits, walking three and surrendering three home runs in just 4 1/3 innings in a loss to Texas. He's struggled both on the road and in day games, posting an ERA of 7.71 in three starts in the afternoon.
Only the Rays have scored fewer runs on the road than Baltimore among American League clubs, and the Orioles own a team batting average of .241 away from Camden Yards.
