The San Diego Padres come into Baltimore off back to back home wins over Washington. They haven't had much success on the road though, losing six of their last seven away from PETCO. They send a struggling pitcher to the mound here in Baltimore's hitter's park, and it could be a recipe for disaster.
Luis Perdomo will toe the slab for San Diego, and he hasn't missed many bats lately. Perdomo (2-2, 8.79 ERA) allowed three runs on six hits and a pair of walks in six innings in a home win over Miami. He's been torched for 10 runs on 14 hits in 7 2/3 innings in consecutive no decisions in his last two starts on the road.
The Orioles hand the ball to youngster Tyler Wilson, who has shown flashes of brilliance this season. Wilson (3-5, 4.16 ERA) struck out six, while tossing eight scoreless innings in a 5-1 win at Boston his last time out.
Not only is run support a problem for Padres pitchers, but they are also backed by the 28th ranked fielding defense in the majors. That's pretty bad when you consider that PETCO is supposed to be a pitcher's park.
