Rest assured we're not going to make a habit of laying points with Fullerton this season, but there's another reason to back CSF tonight.
It's visiting Long beach, which has had all sorts of problems doing anything right for new HC Chris Acker, with only a win vs. lower-tier LaVerne in nine games into December. That includes seven spread Ls in a row for a team scoring only 61.7 pg and shooting barely 40% from the floor. We have at least seen the Titans rise up for a couple of wins, including a recent 72-63 success at Pepperdine when g Donovan Oday scored 15. Longtime Big West followers know that this rivalry once burned as bright as any on the Pacific Coast for brief span in the late 70s, when capacity crowds would pack the Long Beach Arena and Anaheim Convention Center. It was also the same matchup in the 1978 PACC title game at Anaheim won by CSF, 64-53, launching the Titans into the Big Dance for the first time, and where they made a dramatic advance to the Elite 8 for HC Bobby Dye.
