Fair to contemplate if Andrew Brunette might be running out of time for a turnaround with the Preds, who have lost five straight...the last four of those have all been by 3-2 scorelines. The offseason adds of Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault were supposed to help jump-start the offense, but instead Nashville is at the bottom of the NHL with just 60 goals. Moreover, Juuse Saros, who has done his best in goal to give the Preds a chance, gets a well-deserved break tonight after working again last night in Toronto. Justus Annunen, just acquired from the Avs in a deal of backup goalies (Scott Wedgewood going to Colorado), gets a chance tonight in his first Nashville appearance. He'll have to outduel the Habs' Sam Montembeault, off of a stellar effort (saving 30 of 31) in Montreal's 2-1 win OT at Bell Centre vs. the Islanders on Tuesday. Brunette might only have tonight and Saturday at Ottawa to stay in the saddle with the Preds...or maybe just tonight. The next move in Nashville might belong to Barry Trotz..stay tuned.
