Bears at 49ers
(NFL) Bears (CHI) vs. 49ers (SF),
Point Spread: 3.50 | -114.00 Bears (CHI) (Away)
Result: Loss
They're not as bad as the White Sox, but the Bears continue to test the patience of their fans, finally costing HC Matt Eberflus his job after the last-second Thanksgiving fiasco in Detroit. That was a sixth straight Chicago loss, which includes the last three by seven points total, and losing on a Jayden Daniels Hail Mary at the end of the Washington loss on October 27. Teams, however, sometimes rally, at least briefly, to a midseason coaching change, which we saw a few weeks ago in New Orleans. With OC Thomas Brown just promoted to an interim HC role (after being promoted to OC not long before), Chicago fits that dynamic. Rookie QB Caleb Williams has also played a clean game six weeks running, with nary an interception since the October 20 bye week. Meanwhile, for the 49ers, it's just misery, the inactive list too long and deep, and now Christian McCaffrey apparently down for the count as what seems the last straw in a lost season that reminds a lot of the 2020 campaign that was also torn asunder by a rash of injuries like this season.
