The Tigers have only had four Cy Young winners (Denny McLain--twice, Willie Hernandez, Justin Verlander, and Max Scherzer), but might need to make room for another with Tarik Skubal apparently setting the pace for the 2024 award. On the season, Skubal's numbers (8-1, 1.92 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) justify the hype, and he's been even better his last three starts, allowing just 2 runs across 19 2/3 IP (0.92 ERA). There's a good chance he hands off a lead to his bullpen, as the Detroit batters ought to do some business vs. Astros starter Hunter Brown and his 5.58 ERA, and Houston still looking to gain traction.
