#713/714 ASA PLAY ON 8* Under 136.5 Points – Indiana vs Michigan, Thursday at 11:30 AM ET - We expect this game to be played with the intensity of an NCAA tourney game with the defenses moving to the forefront. This is a potential NCAA tourney elimination game with the loser possibly getting left out on selection Sunday. Indiana is the #1 defense in the Big 10 when it comes to efficiency. They also allow just 65 PPG and opponents are shooting only 39% this year vs the Hoosiers (15th nationally). Michigan’s defense isn’t as strong as it has been in past seasons, however they still allow less than 1.00 PPP (0.988 PPP) and they are facing an IU offense that simply isn’t a very good shooting team. The Hoosiers rank 13th in the Big 10 in both eFG% and 3 point %. These 2 teams rank right at the bottom of the conference (13th & 14th) in percentage of points scored from 3 point range. Neither team is considered fast paced so we expect a game here in which every possession is extremely important and they probably won’t have many. When these 2 met this year the total was set at 133.5 and the final score was Michigan 80, Indiana 62. They combined to make 47% of their shots overall and 44% of their 3 pointers and despite those high percentages they still barely topped 140. We think this will be a much more intense game on the defensive end and it’s in a NBA venue (Indiana Pacers) that neither have played in this season. Take the UNDER.
