The Dodgers have seen the total go OVER in two straight. LA broke a three-game slide yesterday with a 16-4 win, but we're expecting much more of a "duel" here in "The Friendly Confines" on Monday night.
The Cubs have been playing to some higher-scoring games as well of late, as they've seen the total go OVER in four of their last five, including in yesterday's 13-12 setback in Cincinnati.
Note that Chicago has seen the total go UNDER in eight of its last 11 after allowing 12 or more runs in a loss in its previous outing.
The starting pitchers are competent. The visitors go with Walker Buehler, who is 0-0 with a 3.16 ERA. He'll be eager to return to form after allowing five runs in a fortunate no-decision vs. the Reds on Tuesday.
The home side turns to Kyle Hendricks, who is 1-3 with a 7.54 ERA. Hendricks got rocked for seven runs over 3.2 innings in a loss to the Braves in his last start.
Hendricks has the track record and pedigree to return to form though, as the veteran will look to get back on track at home, a place where he went 4-2 with a 1.88 ERA last season.
After each team played to such a high-scoring game yesterday, everything points to the opener of this series being a much lower-scoring one.
