This is a 10* TOP FRIDAY NHL TOTAL on the OVER Jets/Canadiens.
Looking at seasonal offensive and defensive averages, along with who is and isn't playing is a great place to start out when analyzing a game. Of course, you want to get more in depth than that, looking at trends, past history and any other additional motivating, or detrimental factors working against a team.
Scheduling is also big during the regular season. Speaking of the regular season, we're now nearing the end of it and these two teams are absolutely desperate for a final spark.
The Jets have lost five in a row and it's been their offense which has failed them. They've also struggled on the defensive end, which is good news for the Habs, who enter having lost three of their last four, including a listless 4-1 setback vs. Toronto at home two nights ago.
Motivationally speaking, clearly we don't have to worry about either of these teams right now. Normally thes teams like to sit back and wait for the other team to make the first mistake, but each comes in desperate to break the slide, and I expect that to translate into a much faster-paced contest here.
Finally, note that Montreal has seen the total go OVER the number in eight of its last 12 in trying to revenge a shutout loss vs. an opponent (lost 5-0 on April 10th.)
